Stunningly slim phone that favours style over substance
The Motorola Edge 70 comes across in these reviews as a very pretty and very thin statement phone that actually holds its own on battery life. Reviewers all rave about how absurdly light and slim it feels, yet it still manages proper water and dust resistance, a tough aluminium frame and a textured back that feels less fragile than the glass you get on rivals. The bright pOLED screen, big 4,800mAh battery and decent everyday performance make it easy to live with, and at around 699 pounds it undercuts other ultra slim rivals from Apple and Samsung while still feeling like a premium bit of kit rather than a fragile gadget. The trade offs are where the reviewers start to cool on it. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is fine for day to day use but feels a bit mid range for the price, the cameras are perfectly serviceable but miss a proper zoom, and everyone is unimpressed by the amount of preinstalled apps and ad heavy extras cluttering up the software, especially given you only get four years of major updates. Put together, the picture is of a phone you buy because you really care about that ultra slim look and comfy feel in the hand, not because it is the best value all rounder in its price bracket, where chunkier rivals offer stronger cameras, cleaner software and more grunt.
