Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Review: Cool Tech, But Not Quite There Yet
The Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses blend classic Ray-Ban style with Meta’s wearable tech ambitions. At around £799, they pack in a 12MP camera, speakers, microphones, and a small display in the right lens, all designed to let you capture photos, take calls, and interact with Meta AI hands-free. The optional Neural Band wrist controller adds gesture control, giving them a futuristic feel. They look and feel great, but practicality is still a challenge. The battery life lasts about six hours, the display only works in one eye, and third-party support is limited to Meta’s own apps such as WhatsApp and Instagram. Privacy also remains a concern, as people are understandably wary of face-mounted cameras, even with a recording light indicator. The glasses perform well for notifications, calls, and casual photography, but the experience still feels more experimental than essential. They showcase how far wearable tech has come, but they’re not quite ready for everyday life. Overall, the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses are stylish and clever but not yet practical enough for most people. A solid 3 out of 5 — great for early adopters, but most users will want to wait for the next generation.
